It is called “The Fall” and it is definitely one of the trippiest movie trailers I have ever seen

Of course, who said trippy was a bad thing? ;)

Just give it a look:

Why?

May 15, 2008 by liz514

I came across this picture and was seriously disturbed. I mean, this is how serial killers start, you know?

Pigeon pierced with dart, April 28

Apparently, someone in Seattle has been shooting pigeons with a blow gun. PETA is offering a $2,000 reward for information on the crimes.

So . . . I get that pigeons are not the most lovable creatures to ever live, but still. Why would you just start shooting at them?

Yeah . . . they walk on your sidewalk and they poop on your car and they fly in your  windows . . . but you can’t just shoot everything that gets in your way, right?

Well, someone has to disagree with me, or else there wouldn’t be a pigeon walking around Seattle with a needle through its head.

European Champions League is one week away…

Chelsea F.C.  Manchester United F.C.As the only soccer “fanatic” on this blog, I will try to keep the posts refering to the beautiful game to a minimum.  However, with the approach of one of the biggest games this year just a week away, I feel that it deserves mentioning.

Just last Sunday, Manchester United F.C. won the English Premeir League title with a total of 87 points for the season.  The closest contender for the title was Chelsea F.C. who finished with a close 85 points overall.  Sunday proved to be a day of tears and joy as United won their game and Chelsea tied theirs to give United the undeniable title.  While Chelsea came in a respectable second overall, they now turn their attention to the Champions League Tournament finals, where they will play none other then… you guessed it, Manchester United.

In my opinion, I think that Manchester will have the upper hand going into the match.  Even with Chelsea having that uncanny knack to keep the match scoreless and then strike with only minutes left, I do not think it will be enough.  Manchester with their momentum gained from the Premier title win, and along with winger Cristiano Ronaldo at the peak of his form, will make the finals a game that Chelsea will have to work to win.   I also eagerly await to see what Avram Grant (Chelsea manager) will be throwing as his squad against

Cristiano Ronaldo

opponent Sir Alex (Manchester).  I expect to see much of the usual such as Lampard and Drogba etc.  However, with the injury of Chelsea’s best defender John Terry (right), I will be interested to see who Grant uses as his stronghold back against Alex Ferguson and his team led by Ronaldo (left).

The Champions League Final will be played on Wednesday, May 21 at 2:45 eastern time.  Even if you are not a soccer fan, I would still be sure to catch this “sure to become classic” match between these two titans.  My prediction?  Manchester united wins the match 3 -2 with Ronaldo getting at least one goal to his name.

UPDATE:  John Terry is reported to be match fit by Chelsea’s medical squad and is expected to play in the match next wednesday.

Are you a Jedi?

May 14, 2008 by liz514

Movies can sometimes get too far into a culture, I think. It’s part of that whole art immitating life immitating art thing, right? Well . . .

There is this church, in Wales, called the Jedi church. It was founded based on the religion of the main characters in “Star Wars”. The church actually has about thirty members.  Apparently, on the 2001 UK Census, thousands of people listed Jedi as their official religion. Who even knew there was such a thing?

However, it made the news after a man attacked its founders while wearing a Darth Vader costume. The man was spared jail time, but actually assaulted some people. Admittedly, he was drunk, but still. . .

Couldn’t you just see your friends getting drunk and doing that?

Well, maybe I just have weird friends . . .

Easy money…

doodle for google(credit: Google.com)

Well, here is my first post for The Quote.  Im always looking for a way to earn money, so this is one way that I thought was really interesting haha.  So I visited Google’s homepage today, and I noticed that there is a new little link right below the beloved Google logo that says:

Over 16,000 children drew doodles for Google’s homepage.  Vote for the one that will appear here.

After catching my interest, I clicked through to see a page titled “Doodle 4 Google” with several categories and 10 altered Google logo finalists per grades K – 12.  The theme for this year’s contest was based on, “What if…”.  I browsed through the logos, and some of them are really creative. I voted for the ones I thought were the coolest (click HERE to vote), and I am kinda excited to see the appearence of the winner on May 22. Doing a little digging, I also found that the winner of the Doodle 4 Google competition would recieve as a prize.  I was surprised to find what a very generous prize it is:

The National Winner will win a $10,000 college scholarship to be used at the school of their choice, a trip to the Googleplex, a laptop computer, and a t-shirt printed with their doodle. We’ll also award the winner’s school a $25,000 grant towards the establishment/improvement of a computer lab.

Thats a ton of freaking cash for a ten minute craft project! In fact, I am starting to feel a renewed enthusiasm for the art of crayon coloring… Watch out Google, here I come.

Pianos are now cool again…..

May 13, 2008 by adxastra594

This will be the first post in my “undoubtedly to become infamous” music review post series (you will have to get used to the sarcasm, it’s not going away)……

First up, a not necessarily new band from the shores of Long Island, New York, Envy on the Coast.

They bear a review for many reasons. Despite their lyrical material being somewhat similar to the latest wave of emo inflected bands who wear their pants so tight it can’t possibly be healthy, their musical arrangements are heights above the typical angular sounds coming form the stereo speakers these days. In fact, they are part of the reason that the use of a piano is now becoming “cool” again. This band is far above just power chords, ladies and gentleman. And their frontman can *gasp* actually sing!!!

Their live show is legendary with all band members playing most of the time in bare feet and performing flips off the wall of amps behind them.

And although their song material can border on being slightly overdramatic once in a while, it undoubtedly contains much more substance than Fall Out Boy  and their string of impostors.

Not to mention the frontman has dreadlocks…….Need I say more?? :)
